Old stations are marked black, newbuilt stations are marked blue on this map. Additional stations have been placed into areas with higher density, while there has been no attempt, to shorten stop distance in general.

This is the most successful way to connect suburbs to the city. It does not work everywhere, though: Obviously, the principle depends on the existence of higher density areas within the suburbs. Completely unstructured suburbs are a more difficult problem.
