A long distance train Bergen-Oslo leaving Finsetunnelen behind a type 18 electric loco. Right and left of the train, the rotary has created free room for throwing snow with the loco snowplow.

100 years ago, Finse was created as a rescue hotel location at the most sheltered place of this railroad's high mountain section. It has only 15 feet of snow in bad winters, while most of the track west of Finsetunnelen is protected by snowsheds.
