This picture shows an ABB transformer, photographed in the Aldershot Yard (Burlington, Ontario, Canada). This kind of load can easily exceed the limits of the normal railroad loading gauge, requiring additional free room left and right. Depressed center flatcars position their load low enough for possible conflicts with high platforms, as used at the east coast.
