New Jersey Transit bought the "River LINE" DMUs from Stadler, which is a smaller manufacturer of railroad equipment located in Switzerland. It uses a 738 hp diesel motor. Weight is 60.4 tons, which is on the heavy side for a DMU of this size and speed (60 mph).
This type of DMU is also available for higher speed and with more power: 1019 hp. Without NJTs street running requirements, most railroads buy this type with longer ends and 100 - 110 seats.
